Many of my GCSE students have decided to carry on to study Maths at A level after working with me.

I specialise in exam preparation using an on-line classroom (not Skype) which allows screen-sharing, annotation and saving of screenshots. It's easy, convenient and fun ! I use lots of practice exam questions to help build confidence, fill gaps in knowledge and improve exam technique.
My students call me reassuring, motivating and helpful. I will use my experience as an examiner and teacher to help you get the best grade you can, working together to iron out issues and fill gaps so that you can go into the exam full of confidence.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach A level and GCSE Maths, including IGCSE.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BEng Hons degree (2:1) in Mechanical Engineering with French from the University of Bath. I also hold Qualified Teacher Status.
- How much do you charge?
I always offer a free initial session so that students and parents can try out the on-line classroom and we can have a chat about how I can help. My fee for GCSE is £30 an hour and for A level is £35 an hour. I accept payment by Paypal or direct bank transfer.
- Where do you teach?
I tutor exclusively online so I can teach you wherever you are!
- When are you available?
My timetable is flexible but I do not tutor past 8pm and have limited availability at weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Most of my students are still at school or college but I also enjoy working with adult learners.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I tutor using a specialised on-line classroom (not Skype) which allows screen-sharing, annotation and saving of screen-shots which I then e-mail to the student after the lesson. Once we have agreed a time for the lesson I send a link to the student which they then click on at the agreed time. The set-up is minimal and it's very easy to use. We can use the video link but most of the time we are too busy looking at the work on the screen!

Rachel was a huge help throughout my AS and A-levels! She was great in tailoring each lesson according to my needs, going above and beyond to ensure I understood everything, and going out of her way to find/create resources to aid my learning. As well as this she was a very reassuring, motivating and helpful teacher to have during exam seasons-I can't recommend her highly enough!
I asked for Rachel's help after both my twin boys had disappointing mock exam results. She tutored each boy separately and I can honestly say that neither son ever moaned about having her as a tutor and always found her lessons interesting and helpful. One son went from a D grade in his mock to a B in his GCSE and the other son went from a C in his mock to an A*. Rachel made maths so interesting that the A* son has gone on to take the subject at A level.

I have recommended Rachel to various friends and have only ever had positive feedback.
Calm, deep thinking, highly intelligent and able to apply this to accurately assess needs of students and pitch learning specifically. Passionate about her subject and skilled at enthusing reluctant learners.
Rachel tutored my daughter at A-level, who is now enjoying life as a student of Marine Biology (A level requirements A; A; B) at her first choice University .
This lady is focused, determined and gives 100% to her students.Rachel was a huge help throughout my AS and A-levels! Rachel was a fantastic teacher. She made maths an interesting subject. She knew how to engage me, alongside others and ensure that we understood things clearly. She prepared me well for all exams and was kind and patient in helping me learn. I would have every faith in having rachel as my maths tutor and would highly recommend her to others.
Rachel is an exceptional teacher who goes the extra mile for her students. Rachel was able to change a student with no interest in maths (me) and on the road to a fail, to a pass at GCSE level. Would highly recommend her approachable and effective teaching method.
Excellent subject knowledge.
