About Jon
I've been a classroom teacher (mostly 7th and 8th grade) for English Language Arts for 12 years (since I graduated from college!). In that time I've not only run theater programs, school WEB programs, and book clubs, but also become a certified youth life coach and been able to tie all of those things into my practice. I've had an enormous amount of academic success due to my student-first, asset-focused, and low-pressure teaching style. I'm patient, don't get flustered or upset, and will do anything I can to make sure that you achieve what you're setting out to achieve in the field of Language Arts - whether you've been told you're amazing at it or that it's not your thing. Teaching is something we're in together - I'd love to be a part of your team.

My method is always student-first and asset-focused. In my experience, most who say they are "bad" at English or Language Arts simply weren't given a good and personalized experience.
My number one goal is for a student to be able to see value in what we're doing by enabling them to see themselves and/or connect they own life/experiences into what we're doing.
I've taught classes of three and classes of 36 all with great success in enabling students to see their strengths in what we need to accomplish.
We'll get to know what's important to you and whether it's an informative paragraph, short story, persuasive essay, or Honors/AP paper, we'll get it done!
