About Ayyan
Hi, I'm a Biomedical Science graduate from the University of Bristol, where I achieved a 2:1 after earning A"A"A in Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Science at A-Level. I've always had a strong passion for science, but more importantly, I’ve developed a real interest in helping others understand and enjoy it too. That’s why I chose to become a tutor. Having recently gone through the GCSE and A-Level process myself, I understand the pressures students face. I want to use my own experience and knowledge to make that journey easier and more rewarding for others. My goal is to break down complex topics in a way that feels clear and manageable, helping students not only understand the material but also feel confident applying it in exams. I aim to create a calm, friendly, and focused learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building genuine confidence. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance and support, and I’m committed to helping them achieve their full potential.

My tutoring approach is structured, supportive, and student-focused. I begin by ensuring each topic is fully understood at a deep level and not just memorised. I break down complex ideas into manageable parts, using diagrams, real-life examples, and simple explanations to make sure students truly grasp the material. Once we’ve built a solid understanding, I guide students through applying that knowledge to exam-style questions. This helps them develop strong exam technique and gain confidence in answering challenging questions. I also incorporate active recall, spaced repetition, and regular review of previous topics to boost long-term retention. Sessions are interactive and tailored to the individual. I always encourage questions, second attempts, and discussions in a calm, positive learning environment where growth mindsets thrive. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs. Sessions usually follow this structure: First 10–15 minutes: Reviewing and reinforcing prior learning. Next 30 minutes: In-depth teaching of a new topic. Final 15–20 minutes: Applying knowledge to exam-style questions and reviewing. I hold a 2:1 degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Bristol, and achieved A*A*A at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Computer Science. I have experience supporting students in both GCSE and A-Level sciences, and I’m very familiar with the current curriculum and exam expectations. I tutor GCSE (AQA and Edexcel) and A-Level (AQA) students in Biology and Chemistry, typically aged 14 to 18. Whether a student is aiming for top grades, struggling with key concepts, or looking to boost confidence and technique, I tailor each session to meet their specific needs and learning style.
