  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

    1. I was inspired by a movie and the way Koreans speak their Language caught my attention and I fall in love with it. I love the Languages in Northeast Asia I.e Korean, Chinese and Japanese. I love the way they speak their Languages and one of the major reasons I wanted to learn Korea was because of their scripts ( their way of writing), I'm still learning Korea though and I'm also learning Japanese and Mandarin Chinese ( I can't teach those yet). As for been fluent in Korean.....I've never been to Korea so I don't really rate my fluency in term of speech.....but when it comes to writing and making Sentences I'm good with the basics (I'm still learning the language so I'm not a guru yet).
I can speak on an average scale just like every other Learner...I'm working on improving my speaking skills to sound more like a native speaker.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

My historical hero King Sejong the great (세종대왕): king Sejong the great his an historical and one of the most memorable kings in Korean history, because it was under his reign and command that the Korean alphabet (Hangeul) was created to replace the Chinese system of writing (Hanja) which was not only difficult to learn but not affordable by all. Only the rich and noble can afford to learn Hanja the Chinese system of writing.
The creation of Hangeul under his reign and by his command, which made him one of the most memorable kings in Korean history.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

I love the Korean culture, from the mode of dressing to speech, to food, to their Hierarchy system and their brotherhood nature.....Koreans consider each other as a big family. You'll Hardly see typical Korean eating alone in a restaurant without been accompanied by his friends or family.
It's really lovely! And I try comparing their culture with mine (Yoruba
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

I'm learning the Korean Language not because of K-pop or K-drama but because I love the culture and Language....I don't listen to k-pop often but that doesn't mean I don't like Korea.....I love it!
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

For a beginner, learning the Alphabet might seem a bit difficult, but believe me, it's not compared to Chinese or Japanese scripts...if you put your mind at it you'll learn the alphabets within days ( I learnt within minutes).
Another difficulties Beginners and learners as a whole can encounter is interpreting Sentences, which is essentially in other to understand the information passed. The solution to this is learning Grammatical structures (how to make Sentences) and vocabularies.

Most Beginners are used to learning and cramming phrases and vocabularies from YouTube or movies and so on....but can't make their own Sentences because they don't know how to go about it.
One way I solve this problem is by teaching from the very beginning, I teach grammatical structures in an organized way that a learner won't be confused and I provide enough vocabs to cover all my lessons. In other to memorize words, if you're able to make Sentences with them, there are chances they'll stick to your memory longer. By teaching grammatical structures from the very beginning of and introducing vocabs as we open the new lesson,my student will be able to make Sentences and also know lots of words.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

Learning the Korean Language wasn't smooth for me at first, why? I didn't have the necessary materials to learn i.e a smartphone, apps, files and a teacher e.t.c. I just picked words from movies ( which turned out to be wrongly pronounced by me or misspelt or not correctly Translated). When I got my phone things started getting better, I found a great app that I'll recommend to my friends... Lingodeer app. It was my great teacher and helper. Since I got my phone I was able to learn better.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

I have not travelled to Korea yet, but I have friends who are Co- learners and I also have some Korean friends that I chat with to improve my writing skills (since we write more often) and speaking skills which is one of the most challenging parts as a learner. Most learners including me can construct Sentences by writing but might not be so good at speaking since we speak less and write more.

A person might write complex Sentences or have a long written conversation but when it comes to speaking physically it might be a challenge. So I try to practice speaking with Co learners
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

The Korean Language is a language that I love and I love teaching it to friends. It's really interesting learning a new language and I don't want people to face the challenge I faced when I started learning Korean so I'm willing to help students understand the basics perfectly without much stress.

For now, I teach Beginner level only because that's the best I can teach for now. I'm not a native speaker and I'm still a learner too. I've taught quite a good number of people and I'm sure I'll be able to help you too.
