About Liv
Hi, I’m a piano tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, and I bring both academic training and real-world experience to my lessons. With over 7 years of teaching experience, I’ve helped students of all ages discover the joy of piano. Whether you're a school-aged beginner or an adult returning to music, I tailor each lesson to your unique goals and pace. My background spans classical, jazz, and pop genres, giving students a wide musical foundation and the freedom to explore different styles. I believe in developing not just technical skills, but also musical expression and confidence. From learning to read sheet music to improvising over chord progressions, my lessons offer a balanced and engaging approach. I’m passionate about making music feel accessible and rewarding, no matter your level. For younger learners, I keep things creative and structured, building strong habits from the start. For adults, I offer flexible, goal-oriented lessons that respect your time and interests. Seeing a student light up when they master a new piece or finally play their favorite song—that's the best part of teaching for me. My teaching approach to piano is all about building musical fluency step by step. I start by helping students read music confidently and play with both accuracy and expression. Rhythm drills and finger exercises are a regular part of our lessons to build strong technical foundations. We also spend time understanding musical structure—how songs are built and how that helps with interpretation. Each lesson is carefully shaped to match the student’s pace and goals. Some learners move quickly and thrive with challenges, while others need more time to absorb and explore. I adjust my approach so each student feels both supported and stretched. We work on a variety of pieces, from classical works to modern styles, allowing students to discover their musical voice. I encourage expressive playing right from the start, even in simple pieces. Over time, students learn not just how to play, but how to bring music to life. I give extra attention to students who show advanced potential, helping them refine their skills and take their playing to the next level. Whether preparing for performances or just deepening their craft, I’m there to guide and inspire them every step of the way.
