About Simon
I’m a native English speaker, with a technical background. When I wanted to travel the world, almost 10 years ago, I trained in TEFL (Teaching English as a Second Language) so I could make a little beer money for my travels.
These days I’m not travelling too much (who is!) but I’m still hoping to make a little beer money.

Teaching has to be fun and interesting, otherwise you’ll get bored and move on to something else (unless a job or a partner) is depending on you. In that case, you’ll have a terrible time and dread the lesson.
My approach is to split the lesson into three parts. The first will introduce some new vocabulary, the second to cover that vocabulary in a more fun way (e.g. listening to a song, talking about a trip or a movie), and finally to have a chat about anything, connected to the subject or not. The focus for most students will be on speaking and listening, so that conversational skills will be built up in English. Reading and writing will follow once the student understands the words and sentence structures.
The syllabus will be adapted according to the students requirements. Is it to gain a certification, or to make it easier to talk to the father-in-law?
It does not require the student to have any prior knowledge of English (or for me to understand the students language)
