About George
I’m a professional musician, guitarist and recording artist with over 10 years’ experience teaching through my business, String Theory Guitar Tuition. I’ve worked with students of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to advanced players, and I take pride in offering lessons that are friendly, relaxed and tailored to each individual. Alongside teaching, I release music under my own name and work as a session guitarist for various artists and projects. My professional background includes performing in function bands, studio recording sessions, touring work, and contracts as a guitarist on cruise ships. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of tone, technique, musicality and real-world performance, all of which I bring into my lessons. I studied at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, earning a Degree in Music Performance, and I’m confident working across a wide range of styles. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, returning after a break, or looking to refine your playing at a higher level, I’m here to help you progress with clear guidance, solid techniques and encouragement.

My lessons are completely tailored to each student, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced guitarist looking to push your playing further. I focus on solid technique, musical understanding, confidence and most importantly, helping you enjoy the process. You can learn in any direction that inspires you. I teach electric and acoustic guitar across a wide range of styles, including: Blues Rock Soul Acoustic / Fingerstyle Pop Folk Indie Funk R&B Singer-songwriter styles Classic Rock Roots / Americana Improvisation-based styles Contemporary worship Alternative / modern rock Basic jazz harmony & phrasing Metal rhythm & lead foundations (if needed) If there’s a style you’re interested in that isn’t listed, chances are I can cover it — I’m well-versed in most genres and adapt lessons to each student’s preferences. We can work on technique, rhythm, riffs, lead playing, theory (kept simple and useful), songwriting, improvisation, ear training, or learning your favourite songs. I also offer guidance on tone and gear: amps, pedals, pickups, modelling units (Helix, Kemper, etc.) and home-recording setups. I take a relaxed and patient approach and can adjust lessons for different learning styles, including autistic and ADHD students. Whether you want to play for fun, build a strong foundation, or grow into a confident performer, I’ll create a lesson plan that suits you.
