About Poppy
I’ve spent the past 3 years teaching guitar and exploring the art of musical listening. With a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Guitar Studies, I focus on developing strong ear training for every guitarist I teach. My lessons emphasize transcribing solos, understanding progressions, and building note recognition by sound. Students learn how to hear chord qualities and intervals accurately. We start simple—with melodies and riffs—and gradually build toward full harmonic awareness. I teach methods that train your ear to recognize music naturally. Perfect pitch and relative pitch development are part of our journey. I believe this skill turns a good guitarist into a great one. Lessons are interactive, using songs you love as training tools. I give direct feedback to help refine hearing precision. Each student learns to trust their ear more than the fretboard. My approach is patient, musical, and focused on independence. You’ll soon find yourself playing music you’ve only heard—and doing it with confidence.

I teach guitar through a strong foundation in music reading and interpretation. My lessons include learning both tablature and standard notation for complete understanding. We also work on rhythm notation to improve timing and groove. Each class includes sight-reading activities tailored to your level. My goal is to make reading a natural part of your playing routine. For The Classical Purist, I focus on clean execution and musical expression through notation. For The Jazz Explorer, I teach how to read complex rhythms and chord progressions. I use structured exercises that build skill gradually and clearly. Students learn to connect reading, listening, and playing in every lesson. My feedback helps correct habits and boost confidence. Over time, music reading becomes second nature. I keep lessons creative, interactive, and fun. Together, we’ll make you fluent in the universal language of written music.
