About Oscar
British-German musician Oscar Holch, leads an eclectic and diverse musical life throughout the UK and Europe as a chamber musician, orchestral player and conductor performing on modern and historical instruments.
As a conductor he has conducted the BBC SSO and worked most recently as an assistant to Giovanni Guzzo and Camerata Salzburg. He is a regular assistant with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras and has worked with Sir John Eliot Gardiner on a European Tour of Bach‘s B minor Mass (2023) and with Dinis Sousa on a Beethoven Symphonic Cycle in Paris and London (2024). He has received guidance and inspiration from Philippe Herreweghe, Rüdiger Bohn and Joshua Weilerstein.
He appears regularly with both leading and period ensembles throughout Europe and the UK such as Scottish Chamber Orchestra (Regular Guest Principal since 2022), Camerata Salzburg, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and Balthasar Neumann Orchestra, Les Siecles and Irish Baroque Orchestra.
He founded Parnassus, a flexible early music collective, with fellow members of young artist schemes for historical performance such as Collegium Vocale Gent Academy and the Monteverdi Apprenticeship Scheme. They made their debut in 2022 at St. Martin-in-the-fields and were participants in the prestigious IYAP at Amuz, Antwerp in 2022 and have appeared at festivals throughout Europe. They are grateful to have received support from Continuo Foundation.

Through my lessons I aim to inspire my students and encourage them to develop a deep love and appreciation of music. Drawing upon my studies at leading conservatoires in both the UK and Europe along with my experience performing with leading symphonic, chamber and historical ensembles throughout Europe, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to students who wish to develop not only their technical facilities but most importantly their interpretative skills and musical understanding. In addition to my varied experience as a performer and conductor, I have taught at several leading amateur music courses, held a Leverhulme fellowship with Pro Corda and taught several years at the Godolphin&Latymer School. Lessons usually last 1hr minimum and I am mainly focused on intermediate to high level of students of all ages.
