About Isobel

I am a school librarian with a passion for reading, research, languages and the arts. I studied French and Latin at Oxford and then did a Masters in Library Science.

My interest in Latin was sparked by visiting Roman sites in countries across Europe as a child and reading novels by Robert Harris and Robert Graves. I am also deeply interested in Classical reception - from Percy Jackson to Titian. For younger learners, I like to recommend children's and young-adult novels inspired by Classics that I have come across in my day job as a school librarian.

I also tutor French, English and EPQ / research skills.

About the lesson

My lessons are focused on helping students to meet their goals and grounded in evidence-based pedagogy and a warm, empathetic approach. I have extensive experience of helping children aged 11-18 to achieve their academic goals, including tutoring a student through the entire GCSE Latin syllabus as he wasn't able to take the subject at school (he achieved an A*). I have also tutored students in French and English and like to help students to make connections between Latin and other subjects such as MFL and the arts. I can tailor lesson lengths to your needs but would recommend blocks of 45 minutes.
