About Athena
I began my Latin dance career in Boston, Massachusetts, where I trained with Pipe and Kathe, world champions in salsa and bachata. In Boston, I also trained with Roberto Figueroa, owner of Rumba y Timbal, until I was able to teach my own classes. I have dedicated the last three years to teaching group and private lessons in bachata and salsa (on 1). I have taught group bachata classes with Sensual Movement in NYC, and Juan Calderon has hired me as an instructor for both styles in Toronto and Barcelona. More recently, I have trained and performed New York Style salsa in NYC with Empire Mambo.
I was born in New York and am bilingual in English and Spanish, and I have experience teaching in both languages.

I'm passionate about helping my students understand new concepts, and I tailor my explanations to each individual with personalized exercises. My classes are geared toward all levels, focusing on the basics and fundamental elements that will lead you to more advanced steps. My dancing is guided by musicality, body movement, and partner connection.
