About Simmi

I am a Data Analyst working at Stanford University with 4 years of experience in software engineering and data analytics. I hold double master's degrees in Computer Applications and Data Analytics from San Jose State University. Throughout my professional tenure, I have shouldered various responsibilities, including: Designing custom dashboards for clients and seamlessly integrating the Cron Trigger to automate job scheduling. This innovation significantly enhanced productivity by reducing manual intervention, resulting in time savings of over 20 hours per week. Developing new features and resolving issues in both the backend and frontend of RPA Software. My expertise spans technologies such as C#, RESTful API, XML, JSON, Angular 14, Bootstrap, CSS3 (utilizing BEM methodology), HTML5, TypeScript, SCSS, and Chart.js. Enhancing the Automated Document Generation module, responsible for generating process documentation in various formats, including doc, xslx, Visio, ppt, pdf, and htm. This involved proficient use of VB6, VBA, XML, HTML, CSS, JSON, and REGEX. Streamlining UI changes by automating template generation to minimize adjustments in the compiled code. The software dynamically fetches UI settings at runtime. Empowering users to schedule multiple jobs and activate multiple bots simultaneously, leveraging the capabilities of the Quartz Scheduler library. In addition, I have architected tailored client dashboards, incorporating the Cron Trigger mechanism for automated job scheduling. This strategic implementation significantly bolstered efficiency, reducing the need for manual intervention and resulting in impressive time savings of over 20 hours per week. My commitment to enhancing system versatility and performance extends to empowering users to efficiently schedule the concurrent execution of multiple jobs, further demonstrating the capabilities of the Quartz Scheduler library.

Find out more about Simmi

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

I used the computer when I was merely in 3rd grade. My father is a software developer and he used to have an old IBM computer which had a floppy drive instead of a disk drive. I started programming with C when I became 17 years old. My dad gave me a book named Pascal C which I tried to self-learn myself. If I ever had any issue understanding some or the other topic, I always had my personal tutor (My dad). He is the main reason why I'm so passionate about coding.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

During my past work experience as a RPA(Robotic Process Automation) software developer, I have worked using various frontend and backend technologies such as Angular, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, C#, MSSQL, JSON, etc. While dealing with bots I had a very intensive programming experience where I learned and used various major concepts like threading, parallel programming, Cron Job Scheduling. This product later got a patent for its uniqueness. After experiencing the most competitive coding I have learned the most important thing about programming is the Software architecture. Since then I started building my projects with proper architecture so that it makes it easier for any programmer to work on and to maintain the code. It also reduces the load over the build team from re-compiling the whole software code whenever bug fixes or minor feature updates happen.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My expertise is in two fields - Desktop programming and data analytics. I'm currently working in Python a lot more than other programming languages, but I have experience in .net as well and various other programming languages. Python is a very powerful language which provides a lot of packages/libraries to make both desktop and data analytics projects such as Breast cancer prediction applications using Pandas, Numpy, Sklearn, Scipy, CatBoost, etc. Python also provides GUI libraries such as Flask, Tkinter, Kivy, etc. which I have used to deploy my trained machine learning models on the front-end. I also did various projects including car-price prediction.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

No, they do not. They have done a lot of important work, but most of them had access to incredible family resources to back them up.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I learned how to deal with team mates and conflicts through group projects at SJSU. I have also learned various Machine learning algorithms to train the data and make predictions. My most interesting project was a Reddit Chatbot, where my team took the reddit dataset and trained it using deep learning algorithms such as BERT and T5, and deployed it on a frontend developed in Flask and HTML5.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

I would say, if I were you and learning IT for the first time; my thoughts can also be similar. But it is very easy, and it makes it easier and fun to learn if someone is teaching from the very basics and in a layman language. According to me, anyone can learn to code, provided they are patient and ready to do the hard work. It is just like working out at the gym, but with your brain. It's just like a way to interpret with a machine and pass the instructions to perform some action.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I'm also working as a UI/UX designer as a freelancer. I enjoy designing wireframes and prototypes in figma. I have also shared my figma diagrams and designs in Github before starting the other phases of SDLC.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I am here to help you succeed. You can do it!
