About Sue
Hi! My name is Sue. I studied Japanese at university and worked in Japanese companies for several years. I am a pre-service LOTE (Languages Other Than English) teacher, specialising in Japanese and Korean.
I understand that learning a foreign language can be both challenging and rewarding. It requires dedication, persistence, and patience (I’ve been there myself!). That’s why I believe lessons should be fun, engaging, and motivating.
The journey may have its ups and downs, but the rewards are absolutely worth it. Together, we can make the process easier, more enjoyable, and truly effective!

My teaching methodology
I believe language learning should be fun, interactive, and connected to real life. I use a communicative approach, focusing on speaking and listening from the very first lesson. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, so you can apply what you learn immediately. I also integrate games, role plays, cultural stories, and multimedia resources to keep lessons dynamic and engaging.
Lesson structure
Warm-up & Review – quick conversation or activity to refresh what you learned last time.
Main Lesson – introduction of new language concepts through real-life examples.
Practice Time – speaking, listening, reading, or writing activities, depending on your goals.
Cultural Insight – short stories, traditions, or fun facts about Japan to deepen understanding.
Wrap-up & Feedback – summary of key points and personalised advice for self-study.
