About Shanyi

Hi everyone, nice to see you here! I am a passionate jazz dancer and instructor with university teaching experience. Trained in classic and contemporary styles, I thrive on helping students unlock their potential. As a supportive mentor, I blend technical rigour with creativity to nurture confidence and joy in dance. Let’s grow your skills—and love for movement—together!

About the lesson

Teaching Approach: - I prioritise a personalised, student-centred method. Whether you’re mastering basics or refining advanced skills, lessons are tailored to your goals, learning style, and pace. My focus is on fostering confidence, creativity, and a deep connection to jazz dance’s rhythm and expression. Methodology: - Technique: Build strong foundations through targeted drills (isolations, footwork, posture). - Artistry: Develop musicality and storytelling through improvisation and choreography. - Feedback: Real-time corrections and progress tracking to ensure growth. Lesson Length: 60 - 90 minutes — optimal for warm-ups, skill-building, and choreography practice. Qualifications/Experience: - Taught jazz dance classes for peers at university level. - Professional training in jazz, with emphasis on classic and contemporary styles. Who Are Lessons For? - Levels: Absolute beginners to advanced dancers. - Ages: Teens (13+) and adults. No prior experience needed — just enthusiasm!
