About Gavin
I am a pianist based in Angus, Scotland. I hold a Bachelor of Music with honours and Postgraduate Diploma in music. I have taught piano, keyboard and music theory for the past 12 years in the UK, Bahrain and China.

These 3 words lie at the heart of my approach.
I've loved music since I was very young, and have been fortunate to have had many wonderful teachers. I want to provide the same inspiration for my own students and nurture a lifelong passion for music.
I aim to empower my students to be independent learners, able to evaluate themselves and take ownership of their progress.
When learning a language we generally speak before learning to read, this is the most natural way. Learning the language of music is no different, so making music should be at the heart of every lesson. I believe it is through exploring musical elements in a creative way that we develop our understanding.
All learning should take place within a structured curriculum and I will prepare a course of study for each student individually, based on their ability level and aspirations.
