About Alicia
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, my Doctorate Degree is in Curriculum and Instruction, and I have an Intervention Specialist Certificate. I have 12 years of tutoring experience. I have taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, and Third Grade, and tutored students from Pre-K thru 5th grade in all subject areas. My favorite subjects to teach are ELA and Math. I love to help a student grasp a concept and help improve their confidence! Learning should be fun, so I try to connect with the students I work with, find out the things they enjoy, and incorporate their interests into the lesson.

My typical teaching style/technique is a one-on-one approach in an engaging and relaxed environment that allows the student to feel comfortable and confident, as well as have some fun learning, knowing their efforts are rewarded and appreciated. I prefer a hands-on approach using any tools needed to ensure they get the most thorough understanding of a particular concept. Often times I recommend the student use hands-on materials and provide technology based instruction. One-on-one, guided, explicit instruction can make all the difference!
My lessons can be tailored and differentiated to each student's particular needs. Lessons are designed for Pre-k thru 5th grade students in ELA or Math.
