I would start my class with explaining what my understanding of the written piece is. Then, moving to the student and helping him/her to get to his/her personal understanding of the the course material. Lastly going in a litter deeper into the course material to get to the exact point of the writer and then creating some exercises, like questions, mcqs etc. to revise the topic.
