About Ivan

I have experience in teaching a different variety of topics and problems in philosophy to undergraduate students including moral philosophy, ethics, critical thinking and aesthetics. While my PhD was in Philosophy, I am also trained in the social sciences and art history. I am therefore familiar with and comfortable in teaching a broad range of topics and themes in the humanities and social sciences such as in history, sociology, literary and cultural studies as well. I have published academic articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals and I am currently looking to guide students attending school and college in philosophy and more broadly, the humanities.

One of my primary goals as a teacher is to help underconfident students or those who lacked sophisticated language skills, to better find their voice. I have noticed that encouraging students to pose questions, express problems and explore solutions in their own words, ultimately also helped them make better sense of academic jargon and allowed them to perform significantly better in examinations as well. As a tutor of Philosophy to undergraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, I have received a commendation certificate for exceptional teaching in a course on Aesthetics. While I have conducted lectures on moral philosophy, critical thinking and philosophical aesthetics at University, I can also conduct classes on the history of philosophy, the philosophy of religion, political philosophy, Buddhist philosophy and continental philosophy. I offer online classes of an hour focused around or a question, problem or philosophical text that the student brings to class.
