About Wig
I am a dedicated violin tutor with 7 years of experience in teaching and professional music practice, and I am passionate about helping students grow both as musicians and individuals. I teach violin to school and college students at all levels, from beginners taking their first steps to advanced performers preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the most rewarding milestones in my career has been guiding students from struggling with basic technique to performing confidently on stage with expression and poise. My teaching emphasises building strong foundations, including posture, finger placement, bow control, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing musical expression, creativity, and performance skills.
I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to help students gain a deeper understanding of music. I recognise that every student learns differently, so I adapt lessons to match individual pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and motivating environment. Teaching violin allows me to inspire students, build confidence, and cultivate a lifelong passion for music and learning.

I teach violin with a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, aiming to cultivate students who are technically proficient, expressive, and confident. Lessons are tailored to each student’s learning style, skill level, and goals, balancing structured technical training with opportunities for creative exploration.
Motivation is central. I guide students to set meaningful goals, monitor progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering confidence and dedication. Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive, with space for questions, challenges, and discussion of musical ideas.
Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, interpretation, and composition, helping students explore their artistic potential and develop a personal musical voice. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for the learning process, cultivating habits that support long-term success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, providing students with a holistic musical foundation. This approach fosters technical mastery, artistic expression, confidence, and a lifelong love of music, preparing students for both performance and personal fulfilment.
