About Harlan
I am an experienced singing tutor with over 9 years of teaching students from schools, colleges, and professional settings. I specialise in helping students develop their voice, refine technical skills, and perform confidently. I believe that singing is a combination of skill, emotion, and artistic expression, and I focus on nurturing all these aspects in my students.
My lessons are interactive, student-centred, and structured. I teach vocal techniques including breath control, pitch accuracy, tonal quality, and voice projection. I also cover music theory, rhythm, sight-reading, and performance skills such as stage presence, expression, and musical interpretation. By combining structured exercises with creative and real-life examples, I make learning effective and engaging.
I adapt lessons to each student’s level and goals. Beginners are guided with patience to build confidence and a strong foundation, while advanced learners are coached to refine techniques, prepare for performances, and overcome challenges like stage anxiety or vocal strain. My teaching methodology for Singing is practical, encouraging, and student-centred. I use real-life examples and case studies from everyday voice use, songs, and performances to help students understand techniques like pitch, breathing, tone, and expression.
I teach with empathy, knowing that students may feel nervous or unsure about their voice, and I create a supportive environment where they feel safe to explore and improve. My flexible teaching style allows me to adapt lessons according to each student’s vocal ability, learning pace, and personal goals.
Clear communication ensures students understand instructions easily, and I provide regular feedback to guide their progress. Using a problem-solving approach, I help students identify and overcome vocal challenges step by step. Along with Singing, I also teach related subjects such as music theory, rhythm practice, ear training, vocal care, and performance confidence.
