About Tanishq
I am a third-year BS-MS undergraduate at IISER Thiruvananthapuram with a CGPA of 8.0. My academic training is in biochemistry, and I am currently working in Dr. Vijay Jayaraman’s laboratory on enzymology, focusing on metabolons, antagozymes, and evolutionary systems biology. Beyond coursework, I have participated in our institute’s annual science expo, where I contributed to developing a hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) gas detector using copper sulfate and a photodiode system. I have also worked on a theoretical project studying the flip-flop motions of lipid bilayer systems. Prior to IISER, I completed my CBSE Class 12 with 92.2% and earned a distinction in the first round of the Dr. Homi Bhabha exam. My motivation to teach stems from a deep enthusiasm for science and a strong desire to inspire students in India to pursue research. I see teaching not just as knowledge transfer but as a way to ignite curiosity and foster the next generation of scientists.

My classes begin with a central question, followed by a discussion of the concept through a series of sub-questions that guide students toward understanding the larger concept. The remainder of the lecture is devoted to exploring and answering that core question.
My teaching style is highly interactive and student-centered. I use a step-by-step, reductionist approach, offering hints and scaffolding so that learners can build the answer themselves. This not only helps them retain knowledge more effectively but also equips them with the reasoning skills needed to reach solutions independently.
Patience is a cornerstone of my methodology, ensuring that each student feels supported throughout the process. While my classes are designed for learners from secondary school to advanced undergraduate levels, they are ultimately open to anyone with curiosity and a willingness to dive deeply into science.
