About Alex
I am a UK English language educator with over 15 years of teaching experience, specialising in exam preparation, academic English and General English. I hold a PhD in Education, CELTA and DELTA qualifications, and I am registered as a College Lecturer with GTCS Scotland.
I have extensive experience teaching students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, both in the UK and internationally. My teaching covers IELTS, Cambridge English exams (including FCE), TOEFL, SAT, SQA ESOL, Higher and General English.
My approach is professional, supportive and personalised. I believe that effective teaching is not simply about explaining grammar or completing exercises: it is about understanding each student's goals, identifying their difficulties and giving them the right strategies and confidence to make measurable progress.
For exam preparation, I combine exam techniques, language development, regular practice and detailed feedback so that students understand not only what the correct answer is, but why it is correct and how to apply the skill independently.
I particularly enjoy working with students who have ambitious goals — whether that means achieving a higher IELTS score, passing a Cambridge examination, preparing for university, succeeding in an SQA/Higher qualification, or becoming more confident and fluent in English.

I offer personalised English lessons for students of all levels, with a particular focus on exam preparation and academic English. As a UK-based, highly experienced English teacher with a PhD in Education, CELTA and DELTA qualifications, I provide structured, practical lessons tailored to each student's goals, level and learning needs.

My lessons are 50–60 minutes long and are designed to give you focused, practical progress in every session.
Exam Preparation: £28 per lesson
IELTS, FCE, Cambridge, TOEFL, SAT, SQA and Higher exam preparation.
General English: £23–£25 per lesson
