I am a self taught, part time musician that has been playing guitar for 10 years, and I played several instruments in high school and even arranged songs for some of our concerts. I'm very passionate about music because it has helped bring me up in troubling times of my life. Knowing how to play music is bigger than what is on the outside. My approach to learning music is understanding the building blocks of music. We will start with notes, then chords, then we will compound and learn to apply the building blocks on an instrument. Fundamentals are very important, and can be overlooked if you try to teach yourself and just play along to tablature. Once we learn building blocks, like notes, chords, triads, key signatures, and scales, we can dive into easy ways to remember where your notes are on a fretboard (such as CAGED theory and the circle of fifths), and once we know how the guitar works, we can start to apply the techniques, and we can get to filling the world with creativity.
