About Corey
I am a maritime historian, having successfully defended my PhD in June 2025. I won national awards from the British Commission for Maritime History for my undergraduate and master's dissertations. I have undertaken significant levels of primary and secondary research over my academic career, both within and outside of the UK. I am very familiar with qualitative analysis, historical methodology, and have also undertaken a degree of quantitative research. I have also presented at numerous research conferences and seminars, including at the Port Cities in Comparative Global History in Hong Kong. Finally, I also have two years' experience working as an academic writing mentor, where I assisted students from undergraduate to PhD level with their academic writing, methodological approaches, and formatting.

In addition to my academic qualifications, I have also worked as an academic writing mentor and with GCSE students. I can provide coaching and advice for academic writing and research skills, either generally or through discussing individual projects. I am most experienced tutoring undergraduate and master's level students, but I am happy to work with students of any level. I also have experience working with students for whom English may not be their first language.
