About Lawrence
I am a senior at Duke University, graduating with a 3.98 GPA and a place waiting for me at Harvard Law School. I scored a 36 on the ACT and a 179 on the LSAT, both in the top percentile, and I have spent years learning not just how to reach those results but how to teach others to reach their own.
My experience runs deeper than two strong scores. At Duke I compete in mock trial, write for the undergraduate law review, and founded the university's pre-law organization, so structured reasoning and clear argument are not occasional exercises for me but daily work. That background shapes how I tutor: with patience, precision, and genuine respect for how much these exams matter to the students sitting them.
You can expect a tutor who prepares thoroughly for every session, communicates clearly, and holds himself to the same standard he asks of you. I take your goals seriously, I show up ready, and I explain my reasoning until it makes sense rather than until I have simply said it. My aim is that you leave each session more confident and more capable than you arrived, with a clear view of exactly what to do next.

I scored a 36 on the ACT and a 179 on the LSAT, and I teach both diagnostically. Before prescribing any study plan, I watch how a student actually works: where they slow down, where they guess, where a single untested assumption is compounding across sections. Most plateaus are not about effort or intelligence. They are about a few habits nobody has named yet.
My method rests on three techniques. Blind review separates careless slips from real gaps. Question autopsies train students to see why wrong answers were engineered to tempt them, since both tests reward recognizing traps, not recalling facts. Reasoning aloud exposes logic that cannot survive being spoken, which will not survive a clock either. I calibrate pace to the individual: some need airtight fundamentals before touching a timer, others need only pressure and volume.
What sets me apart is that I know both of these exams can be mastered with pure technique. I improved from the inside, so I understand the mechanics of improvement rather than coasting on instinct I cannot explain.
I tutor high-school students preparing for the ACT and prospective law students preparing for the LSAT, from first diagnostic to stubborn plateau. I work remotely or in person, weekly or intensively.

I took the ACT twice and got a 29 both times. I figured that was my ceiling. Lawrence was the first person who looked at how I was getting questions wrong instead of just telling me to practice more, and he spotted patterns in my mistakes I had never noticed.
Every session had a clear plan and he never made me feel stupid for missing something. Instead of handing me the answer, he showed me why the wrong choices were built to trip me up, until I started catching those traps myself.
I ended up with a 34. That five-point jump changed which schools I could consider, and I actually understand how to think through the test now. If you are stuck at a score and think that is just where you land, I could not recommend Lawrence more.View more recommendations
