About Aishling
I discovered a deep passion for the Irish language thanks to the inspiration and guidance of my 5th year Irish teacher. This influential educator not only encouraged me to strengthen the basics of the language but also instilled the belief that I could excel and gain confidence in this subject. This encouragement ignited my interest in the rich culture and history intertwined with the Irish language.
From that point on, I was determined to pursue a path of teaching Irish, inspired by the teaching approach that I had experienced firsthand. I am dedicated to helping students feel comfortable with the subject by starting with a strong foundation in grammar and sentence structure.
With this approach, I not only impart language skills but also cultivates an appreciation for the cultural and historical aspects of the Irish language. I am committed to fostering the same confidence and enthusiasm for Irish in my students that I once gained from my inspirational teacher which has led me to teach Irish up to Leaving Cert Higher Level.

I employ a dynamic and effective teaching methodology honed over 12 years of experience as a secondary school teacher.
I adopt a student-centered approach, tailoring lessons to meet individual learning needs. I foster a supportive and engaging learning environment, encouraging active participation orally to increase confidence in the language
In my classes, you can expect a combination of traditional teaching methods, such as the basics of grammar and vocabulary building, to revision notes on Poetry, Prós and Litríocht Bhreise. I make use of Zoom to provide personalized and interactive online tutoring sessions, ensuring accessibility and convenience for students.
Through my teaching, students can expect to not only grasp the fundamentals of the Irish language , such as sentence structure but also develop strong aural, reading and oral skills, ultimately leading to academic success in the Leaving Cert Higher Level Irish exams.

Mrs Scanlon is an excellent teacher! She provides both a great mix of listening, speaking and practical learning activities in a very safe, supportive learning environment. As a student, you feel motivated to learn and supported in doing so and gain valuable feedback that helps you to improve, couldn't recommend getting Irish grinds from anyone else ! Wouldn't have gotten through the irish exam in the leaving cert without her support over the years !

I got grinds with Aishling in 5th year and I’ll keep going to her for the leaving. Find her lessons easy to understand and starting to get all the grammar stuff way more. I started grinds with her after my friend said she was good and that she really helps with Irish.
Aishling is a great teacher. Still can’t believe the result I got in Irish in the Leaving after getting grinds with her. She really broke down the pictures for the oral exam and made it way easier to remember them and her notes for the essays and paper 2 stuff were class!
