About Janica
As a German-speaking doctoral student in International Relations at the University of Glasgow with a master's degree in Linguistics, my passion for languages runs deep. The opportunity to teach German provides me with a unique chance to share my enthusiasm for languages with others while deepening my knowledge in intercultural communication and understanding.
My decision to teach German is based on several factors. Firstly, I am fascinated by the beauty and diversity of the German language. Its rich history, literary tradition, and cultural significance make it an extremely interesting and rewarding language to learn and teach.
Furthermore, I firmly believe that languages can bridge the gap between different cultures and people. As a linguist, I have extensively researched the importance of language for interpersonal communication and cultural understanding. Through teaching German, I have the opportunity to practically apply these insights and help my students not only understand the language itself but also the underlying culture better.
As a doctoral student in International Relations, I also see language instruction as an important contribution to promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. In a globalised world where cooperation across national borders is becoming increasingly important, I believe it is crucial for people to have the ability to express themselves in different languages and effectively communicate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
