About Duru Lara
I have always genuinely loved math, and that dedication has helped me maintain a 4.0 GPA while consistently taking college-level math classes. I don't mention my GPA to boast I mention it because it means I have successfully figured out the exact study habits, practice routines, and test-taking strategies that actually work. Because I am actively immersed in high-level math courses right now, the modern curriculum, common trick questions, and grading styles are completely fresh in my mind. I believe the absolute best way to learn math is by doing it, not just watching someone else do it. That’s why my teaching style is completely focused on real examples and active practice.
When we tackle a new topic, I will walk you through it using clear, step-by-step examples. If a concept doesn't click right away, no worries at all! I will quickly pivot and show you different examples from a few new angles until it makes perfect sense. Once you understand the pattern, it’s your turn. I like to give students the space and time to work through examples on their own. Afterward, we come back together to check the work, fix any tricky spots, and celebrate the wins. This hands-on practice builds real muscle memory and gives you the confidence to ace your exams completely on your own!
