About Ochre
I’m from Guangzhou, Guangdong. My parents spoke Mandarin to me since I was a child, but after starting school, my classmates began speaking Cantonese with me, and I naturally picked it up as well. Currently, I’m working in Vancouver, where I’ve been living for the past ten years. I really enjoy the lifestyle and environment here, though I still miss Guangzhou dearly. Rather than being a teacher, I prefer to connect with you as a friend. I’d love to chat about different cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives. I’m also eager to learn more about different ways of thinking, languages, and other interesting things. Let’s share and explore together!

Introduce Chinese culture and context to enhance understanding. 2. Course Structure Warm-up conversation Vocabulary and grammar introduction Practice activities (speaking, listening, reading, writing) Cultural insights 3. Sample Unit Breakdown Unit 1: Greetings and Introductions Objective: Learn basic greetings and self-introduction. Vocabulary: 你好 (nǐ hǎo), 再见 (zài jiàn), 谢谢 (xiè xie), 我叫... (wǒ jiào...), 你叫什么名字？(nǐ jiào shén me míng zì?) Grammar: Basic sentence structure (Subject + Verb + Object). Activity: Role-play introductions. Example: Teacher: 你好！你叫什么名字？(Hello! What’s your name?) Student: 你好！我叫Anna。你呢？(Hello! My name is Anna. And you?) Teacher: 我叫老师。(I’m the teacher.) NO PRESSURE AT ALL and NO NEED TO BE NERVOUS!!! Learning a language supposed to be FUN! We can just relax and chat, have a conversation about a topic you like, ask me simple questions for shorter class.
