About Emma
Following my graduation and a rewarding biological internship in Costa Rica, I redirected my academic and professional focus toward teaching. I spent three months in Guatemala training intensively in the techniques and qualities that define an exceptional language teacher. This transformative experience has prepared me to embark on an independent teaching career. My academic journey has always been rooted in cultural sensitivity and experiential respect, and I am committed to applying these values to enhance my teaching practices. I hold a TEFL certificate from Maximo Nivel—one of the most respected programs in the field—and I am excited to join their team as an in-person teacher in the coming months. I am patient, understanding, and dedicated to utilizing every resource available to help my students achieve their language goals. I look forward to learning from and growing with the learners I will meet throughout this program.

My lessons are based off the Elicit and CCQ techniques which promote increasing student talk time in classes, as well as focus on what the learner (you) may already know and expanding on that further. My techniques are based on exercising the brain to use memory and a larger vocabulary in order to answer the questions/prompts. The lesson plans will be based off a traditional learning schedule. Understanding vocabulary, grammar, as well as using these lessons within conversations which we will have throughout most of the class. It is not a test of skill, but rather to grow confidence within speaking and becoming used to using another language. These lessons are open to all age groups and learning levels of English. I believe it is a universal right to learn and the opportunity should not be excluded from any group of people.
