About Daniel
You’re in good hands! I hold a BA in English from Harvard and a Master’s from USC’s Peter Stark Producing Program. I’ve taught TV writing and storytelling at universities like UCLA and Loyola Marymount, and I’m a former SAT instructor with Kaplan. I’ve worked with students of all ages and skill levels, and I care deeply about helping each person find clarity, confidence, and a real sense of ownership over their work. I bring patience, high standards, and a lot of practical experience to each session. My job is to help you feel supported, challenged, and fully prepared — and I take that seriously. I'm Daniel, or DC if you like!
I work with high schoolers, undergrads, graduate students and professionals who want to improve their writing, literature, SAT prep, and college essay skills.
My sessions are structured but flexible: I tailor each lesson to my student’s goals, whether that’s prepping for the SAT Reading and Verbal sections, or analyzing a dense book or text. I like to break big ideas down clearly, ask a lot of questions, and empower my students to connect the dots on their own.
We usually start by explaining the topic of the day. I'll then walk you through how to apply the topic, and then give you the chance to put your new knowledge to work through hands-on breakdowns and examples. And I make sure I throw in a little humor and encouragement to keep things grounded.
Whether you want to improve your test scores, or just want to improve your writing skills, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward with confidence.
