About Nir
Hi, I'm Nir, a screen composer, songwriter, record producer and music teacher. I have been teaching music for 15 years — leading a private studio in St Kilda East, where I teach the guitar, songwriting, music theory and composition. As a singer-songwriter, I have led two alternative rock/pop bands, with whom I've recorded three studio albums and played hundreds of shows in Israel and Australia. I am currently recording my fourth album – a solo project for a string quartet that premiered at Melbourne Recital Centre in 2021. In addition, I compose music for film, advertising, dance and theatre. My portfolio includes award-winning projects for ABC, Respect Victoria, Jalna, iSelect, Hapoel Jerusalem B.C, Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva Orchestra, Jerusalem Street Orchestra, and more. I hold a bachelor's degree in Composition from The Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance and a current Working With Children Check.

Whether you’re learning guitar for the first time, writing original music or returning to music after years away, sessions are tailored to support your musical growth in a thoughtful and engaging environment.
Blending guitar, songwriting and music theory, lessons focus not only on technique, but on building confidence, musical understanding, a unique artistic voice and a deeper connection to music as a whole.

Sessions are available online or in person at my music studio in Caulfield North and are suited to students, songwriters and emerging artists seeking a thoughtful, creatively focused approach to music.
A limited number of places are currently available for new students and longer-term mentoring.

Perfect! I've had a few different teachers and Nir is a rare find. Very talented musician but also extremely patient and gifted teacher also.
Perfect! Nir is very friendly and patient with our daughter who is just beginning her guitar education. Our daughter says, 'he's very nice, he obviously knows what he's doing and he explain things very well.' He's interested in what she wants to learn and takes an individual approach which I like. He's also easy to communicate with and has been flexible with organising the lessons. Highly recommend!

I enjoy the lessons with Alex very much. Alex is a very talented student with a great passion for music. Not only is she a fast learner, but she is also very curious, which makes teaching her a joy. I look forward to our next sessions.
Perfect! Nir is very thoughtful and analytical in his approach to teaching guitar but also making it very accessible. He has a very good at understanding where my mistakes are (rhythm/timing, technique, etc) and quickly focuses on the problem areas. Looking forward to my next lesson!

Perfect! Well thought-out step by step process for a beginner, lessons always productive and suitably structured. Nir always has a gentle thoughtful attitude which allowed me to go at my own pace and feel calm/safe to learn :)
- It was a great experience working with Jessica. Music is a natural thing for her and she has a great sense and talent for it. Jessica's reading skills are fantastic and I love the music that she has requested to play in our lessons. Sessions are individually tailored and include listening material, songwriting feedback, practice guidance and creative support outside of lesson time where relevant.
For students developing original work, longer-term mentoring, recording, and artist-development programs are also available throughout the year.
All sessions take place online or at my music studio in Caulfield North.
