About Sophie
I am a guitar tutor with 7 years of experience and a Diploma of Music in Guitar Specialisation. I have taught over 200 students from all backgrounds and skill levels across acoustic, classical, electric, and bass guitar. My teaching covers scales, modes, chord harmony, rhythm, songwriting, and performance preparation throughout every course. I am passionate about helping students find genuine joy and creative confidence in their guitar playing. My lessons are engaging, structured, and always tailored to each individual student. My guitar lessons build strong technical foundations while keeping every session creative, musical, and genuinely rewarding. I start with a clear assessment of each student's current level, goals, and preferred musical style so every lesson is immediately relevant and personally motivating. Warm-up routines develop scales, chord progressions, and picking technique to build the physical coordination and muscle memory needed for confident and fluid playing. Music theory is taught progressively alongside practical playing so every concept connects directly to the real music the student is working on and nothing feels disconnected from genuine playing. Students who enjoy acoustic and fingerstyle guitar develop right-hand technique, fingerpicking patterns, and the specific skills needed for solo guitar performance. Electric students work on tone shaping, amp settings, bending, vibrato, and the expressive vocabulary of rock, blues, and jazz. Backing tracks are used consistently throughout to develop timing, groove, and genuine musical expressiveness in any performance context. Songwriters receive focused dedicated sessions on chord progressions, melody writing, and turning personal ideas into finished original compositions. I provide a clear and specific weekly practice plan after every lesson. My commitment is for every student to become a confident, creative, and genuinely passionate guitarist.
