About Austin
I studied elementary education at Abilene Christian University, graduating and working as an elementary and music teacher for nearly 10 years in the DFW area.
I quickly found unique, impactful ways to being using music in my everyday classroom settings. Before long, music became my focus and my passion!
I am a deacon in my church.
I am married to my wife, Tiffany, for nearly 20 years and we have 4 young children.
My wife and I both serve as patrol leaders in Trail Life & American Heritage Girls.

I meet my students where they are in terms of skill and interest. I love centering my instruction around an artist or a song that is intrinsically meaningful to the player. Using a specific song or artist can be an impactful motivator!
Once song-study becomes an automatic interest, I leverage that interest in those songs to draw connections to music theory. This is what sets me apart as a tutor -- I leverage my students' natural interest as a gateway into higher-order theory study.
