About Lyra
I have been teaching guitar for nine years, driven by a passion for music and a desire to help students achieve both technical proficiency and expressive creativity. I work with learners of all ages and levels, designing lessons that are structured, engaging, and tailored to individual goals. Teaching allows me to combine technical guidance with encouragement, fostering both skill and musical identity in every student. I emphasise clarity, patience, and adaptability, blending technical exercises with improvisation, repertoire practice, and creative projects. Lessons focus on fingerstyle, chords, rhythm, and musical interpretation while nurturing confidence, individuality, and expressive freedom. I create a learning environment that motivates and inspires students to explore their musical potential fully. Outside of teaching, I perform, compose, and explore different musical genres to continuously expand my own perspective and abilities. Watching students progress from beginners to confident, expressive musicians capable of performing and sharing their music is profoundly rewarding. Helping learners develop technical mastery, artistic expression, and a lifelong connection to guitar is the foundation of my teaching philosophy.

My guitar lessons focus on fostering both technical skill and creative expression in a supportive and inspiring environment. Students learn chords, scales, fingerstyle, rhythm, and improvisation while exploring repertoire that reflects their personal interests. Lessons are designed to balance structured exercises with opportunities for creativity, helping learners develop confidence, precision, and musicality. I encourage students to engage actively with the instrument, experimenting with different styles and techniques while building a strong foundation for long-term growth. Beginners focus on basic chords, strumming patterns, finger placement, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners work on barre chords, improvisation, stylistic techniques, and more complex repertoire. Advanced students refine soloing, advanced composition, performance skills, and artistic interpretation. Assignments include technical exercises, listening tasks, repertoire practice, and optional recordings to track progress. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and abilities, ensuring meaningful improvement while maintaining enthusiasm for learning. Students gain not only technical mastery but also creativity, musical independence, and performance confidence. Many go on to perform publicly, collaborate with other musicians, compose original pieces, or record music. Guitar study develops discipline, focus, resilience, and artistic expression, enriching both personal and musical life. My aim is to help learners cultivate skill, artistry, and a unique musical voice, empowering them to explore, interpret, and share music with confidence and authenticity.
