About Lauren
With five years of piano teaching experience and a strong academic foundation in Piano Performance with Pedagogy, I offer lessons that combine structure, creativity, and depth. My method emphasises sight-reading fluency, careful score study, and expressive interpretation. Lessons include technical development, theory, history, and stylistic approaches to classical repertoire. I teach beginners learning their first scales, advanced students refining recital pieces, and professionals deepening their artistry. In piano lessons, I make music theory both simple and practical. Students often struggle with abstract concepts, but I show how they work directly on the keyboard. We study chord progressions, inversions, and harmonic analysis in ways that connect to real pieces and exercises. This makes theory more engaging and easier to remember. I emphasise fundamentals because they support all future growth. The Exam Taker receives guidance that ensures success in structured academic or certification contexts. The Classical Performer learns how theory deepens interpretation and expression in their repertoire. I use a mix of exercises, repertoire study, and creative activities like improvisation to reinforce concepts. Lessons are designed to be supportive and challenging at the same time. I want students to feel progress with every session. The focus is always on building both confidence and competence. With this approach, learners grow into independent musicians who can analyse, interpret, and perform with skill. Together, we build the foundation for a lifetime of piano and music-making.
