About Jo
I have been a design for 30 years. After studying design, I joined a start up agency and helped to grow it from 4 to 50. At the age of 29 I was creative director running a team of 45 designers. 15 years ago I opened my own agency and have grown it to great success and recognition. I have worked on major campaigns all over the world, lectured in design, I’m a publised writer in design, winner of many business and design awards. I am the founder also of a software development company, an online typographical word art business and also the creator of warehouse 44, a stunning warehouse creative hub that is the home to many creative and like minded businesses. I have spent 30 years teaching and mentoring designers within the working environment, and helping them to learn all of the skills they need to make it in the commercial design world. I have taught students at every level from 6th form, college, university, apprenticeship and graduates. Many of my students have gone on to have great careers and win amazing accolades.

I have a very hands on approach to teaching and I believe in ensuring that my students learn all of the core foundations of design. But not only learn the foundations but understand the reasons for them. I believe in supporting and pushing my students to always be better and dig deeper. Creativity comes from within and designers need to understand and nurture that inner creative vision. Teaching students how you do this is imperative to being an amazing and inspirational designer. Every student is different, and as a mentor I embrace this, and together with my students we take the right approach for them.
