About Marissa
Hi, I’m Marissa! I’m a naturally curious person who loves learning, communicating, and helping other people feel more confident in what they have to say.
I’ve always believed that good communication is about more than perfect grammar. It’s about being understood, knowing how to express yourself, and feeling comfortable enough to speak up. That’s the mindset I bring to tutoring.
My lessons are relaxed, conversational, and built around the individual. We might spend one lesson improving your writing, another practicing conversation, or work together on something you actually need in your everyday life. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again because that’s where real progress happens.
I also have a bit of a soft spot for helping people turn their experiences into words that actually do them justice. If you’re applying for college, looking for a job, preparing for an interview, or simply want to sound more polished and natural in English, I can help you communicate your ideas with clarity and confidence.
Most importantly, I want my students to feel like they’re working with someone, not being lectured at. We’ll figure out what works for you, celebrate the progress, and probably laugh at a few of the wonderfully strange things about the English language along the way.

Hi, I’m Marissa! I’ve spent the last 12 years working in marketing, communications, events, and business, which means I’ve written more emails, presentations, resumes, pitches, and “can you make this sound better?” documents than I can count.
My approach to tutoring is simple: English should help you communicate with confidence, not make you feel like you’re taking a grammar exam every time you open your laptop.
My teaching style: I explain the “why” behind grammar, writing, and communication rather than asking you to memorize a million rules. We’ll use real examples, conversation, writing exercises, and personalized feedback so you can actually apply what you learn.
What might a lesson look like? We’ll start with your goals and then get practical. Maybe you need help writing an essay. Maybe your professional emails sound a little too stiff. Maybe you have a great resume that needs to sound a LOT more like you. Or maybe you know exactly what you want to say, but getting it onto the page is the hard part. That’s where I come in.
Where I’m a little different: I bring real-world business experience into every lesson. I’ve built marketing programs from the ground up, worked with executives and global brands, led teams, produced 18+ events reaching 20,000+ people, and helped drive $2.4M in event revenue. I’ve also worked across fintech, media, finance, and communications, so I understand how much strong writing and communication can actually impact your career.
I also love helping students and professionals with resumes and job applications. We can turn “responsible for emails” into something that actually sounds impressive, identify the right keywords for a job description, make your accomplishments stand out, and improve your resume’s search visibility and ATS performance. I’ve personally worked on marketing strategies that increased search visibility by 32%, so yes, I’m the person who will notice if your resume is missing the right keywords.
Who I work with: Students, college graduates, job seekers, and professionals at different English levels who want to become stronger, clearer, and more confident communicators.
My goal is for you to leave each lesson thinking, “Okay, I actually know how to do this now.” And ideally, with a resume that makes recruiters think the same thing.
