My approach to teaching English is rooted in personalization and accessibility. I believe that every learner has a unique pace and learning style, so I design personalized worksheets tailored to the needs, proficiency level, and interests of each student. This allows my learners to engage with the material meaningfully and to progress at a pace that is comfortable for them.
To create a supportive and non-intimidating learning environment, I allow my students to use Tagalog when expressing their ideas in class. I understand that forcing immediate use of English can sometimes create a barrier to communication and hinder learning. By permitting Tagalog, I ensure that students can participate confidently without fear of making mistakes.
After they express themselves in Tagalog, I translate their ideas into English and guide them to understand the correct vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. This method helps bridge their native language and the target language, making English more comprehensible and less overwhelming.
Ultimately, my goal is to build my student's confidence first, then their competence. By combining personalized materials with a bilingual, translation-based approach, I help learners communicate freely while gradually developing their English language skills.
