I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2013 with an MSci in Physics (class I). I completed my PhD in Physics at Cambridge in 2018. During my PhD I carried out small group teaching (Supervising) for undergraduate courses, totalling around 65 hours. I also completed the Teaching Associates Programme run by the Higher Education Academy (HEA), to develop my teaching philosophy and practice. I am an Associate Fellow of the HEA. I began tutoring casually during undergraduate studies, and continued doing so during the PhD, teaching around 100 hours of GCSE Maths. Since submitting my dissertation I have started tutoring more intensively, and my weekly schedule of tutoring includes lessons in GCSE and A-Level Maths, GCSE and A-Level Physics, A-Level Further Maths, and degree-level Physics. I bring a strong academic commitment to my subjects and their teaching and learning. My teaching approach is carefully thought out but non-dogmatic and I am always ready to adapt based on reflection and feedback. I strive to convey the friendliness and patience necessary for intellectual openness. When I am not engaged in academic activities I can usually be found running, cycling or playing the clarinet.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I would highly recommend Peter for tutoring. He is conscientious and thorough. He always kept us appraised of my son, Rory's, progress and was very positive and proactive.
Peter has recently started tutoring my daughter for her GCSE maths. Peter is very knowledgeable and has also taken the time to research what she should currently be studying and giving her extra tasks and tips for homework. He is very patient and has a calm teaching manner. We have already noticed a significant improvement in her confidence which her teacher also commented on at parents evening and her marks are improving. I would highly recommend Peter.
