About Xinpei
I approach tutoring with the same discipline and standards that shaped my academic training at Georgia Institute of Technology. My background in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science was built on rigorous coursework, analytical depth, and performance under pressure. I bring that same structure and seriousness to every student I work with.
Professionalism, to me, means preparation, clarity, and accountability. I do not improvise sessions. I assess a student’s baseline, identify gaps, and design a focused plan. Each session has defined objectives. I track progress. I adjust strategies when necessary. Students know what we are working on and why.
I also understand that confidence in math is fragile. Many capable students doubt themselves long before they lack ability. I create an environment where questions are welcomed, mistakes are analyzed calmly, and improvement is measurable. My role is not only to explain material, but to build disciplined problem-solving habits that last beyond one exam.
Legitimacy comes from mastery and results. My training required deep mathematical reasoning, proof-based thinking, and computational application. I have solved complex problems under demanding academic standards. I know how to prepare for competitive environments because I have navigated them myself.

If you’re looking for a math instructor who actually understands how math is used in the real world, I’m a strong fit for you. I graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Computer Science, and I began my academic path as an Applied Mathematics major before transferring in my second year. That background matters.
Starting in applied math gave me a rigorous foundation in calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and proof-based thinking. Transitioning into computer science forced me to use that math in algorithms, optimization, machine learning, systems modeling, and data structures. I don’t just know how to solve equations — I know why they matter and how they show up in real technical problems.
When I teach math, I focus on three things:
First, clarity. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because concepts were never explained structurally. I break problems down step by step and connect each formula to intuition.
Second, pattern recognition. Math becomes easier once you recognize underlying structures. I train students to see recurring frameworks instead of memorizing isolated tricks.
Third, application. I show how math connects to programming, data science, engineering, and real computational problems. This makes the subject more engaging and less abstract.
