About Megan
I am a recent University of Aberdeen graduate with an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws degree and postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. During my fifth year I tutored first year law students in Legal System which I thoroughly enjoyed and gained a lot of experience from. I was also an editor for Lawyers Without Borders Student Division which provided me with excellent experience in proofreading and writing; I helped edit a confidential consultation document to a Non-Governmental Organisation in this position.
I have experience teaching a range of ages through my position as an Assistant Gymnastics Coach at ETKO Sports Academy and Camp Mataponi. In this position I created weekly lesson plans and conducted a variety of classes for different skillsets. This gives me experience in catering to different ways of studying and levels of ability.
In terms my academic experience, I obtained the highest overall grade in Higher English in 2014, receiving A1 grades in the elements of Close Reading, Critical Essay and Creative Writing. I completed Advanced Higher Modern Studies where my dissertation examined the psychological attributes of crime. I obtained an overall Upper-Second Class Honours in both my undergraduate and post-graduate degrees, and a First Class Honours in my fourth year dissertation.

My name is Megan and as a student I always thought it was important to get the basic concept of something before critically engaging with the topic to reach that high grade. However, I strongly believe that for a subject to be taught properly, it needs to be done however works for you, and in that sense my methodology is entirely flexible.
I normally approach each topic by firstly developing a clear lesson structure to move through the curriculum. The lessons will begin by broadly introducing each topic at a general level to provide the knowledge at base level, then challenge the topic from different viewpoints in the second part of the session. This is to engage critical thinking of the topic - I often think a good way to do this is for me to play devil’s advocate almost!
Conversely, I can work in a more question/answer setting or lecture environment if you are more comfortable with that, especially when we are going through an exercise or reviewing an essay. In the latter I will proofread and edit your work beforehand so that the session can solely concentrate on reviewing your work.
Overall, I want you to genuinely engage in a topic to a level where you don't just understand it but can question and defend it. During my experience at university and academy I believe that this is where the difference lies in achieving that desired grade, and I am committed to helping you get there!
