About Joey
I studied at Elon University in North Carolina for four years where I received a BA in International Relations and Spanish. There, I also focussed on teaching English as a second language and received my TEFL certification. I now work as an ESL teacher. My background as both a student of a second language and an educator perfectly position me to conduct private lessons for students at any level.

As a young teacher I am well versed in project based learning and technology as a tool. I use these to my advantage as I work with students not only on their passive skills (reading and listening) but also on their active skills (writing and speaking). I cater each lesson to my students interests, and capitalize on what excites them. Without engaging content, it is impossible to truly learn English. I am open to teaching any level, but my specialty is ages 11-18.
