About Basri
Growing up in Singapore, I did my Cambridge exams and received Distinction for both math subjects, Elementary and Additional (calculus) Mathematics. I also received a diploma in Business & Accountancy.
I then decided on my own to move to New Zealand to carry out my university studies, where I did a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) in University of Otago - I received several awards and scholarships including the University of Otago Prestige Scholarship, got put on the Dean's List for 2020 and 2021, and council commendations for several finance papers.
Following that, I started my career with a Big 4 in the financial advisory industry, and received my CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1 during my first year. I now have 2 years of work experience in this field, where I'm looking to take a few months off work to pursue my personal goals (photography) and language exchange whilst travelling.

I've had extensive tutoring experience whilst in university. On top of being the head tutor for a mathematical finance paper and conducting tutorials for the uni, I had my own private students and also worked with private tutoring companies (AceTutor) to further expand my network.
I'm very easy-going, empathetic, and friendly, and want my students to always feel comfortable. I try to create an enabling environment where students can be themselves, and where they can develop self-empowerment and self-confidence.
