About Jeremiah
I am a recent graduate of The University of Chicago. Besides knowledge of Ancient Greek, I have strong reading, argumentative, and essay writing skills. I am passionate about poetry and literature, modern as well as ancient, and am happy not only to teach the language but interpret the texts and discuss the significance of what we are reading.

I believe strongly in encouraging students to ask questions. There are several free online resources for beginning to learn the language, and I am happy to tailor my approach to the student’s desire. The important thing to know figure out is what kind of writing the student wants to read. The action and similes of Homer’s narratives are very different from the back and forth conversations and argument in Plato’s writing. Education in Ancient Greek often overloads beginners trying to give them the tools to read everything. Any language learning certainly must start from the basics (essential vocabulary and grammar) but I believe in working early on to establish the student’s goal and build a curriculum around it, in order to start reading the Greek!
