About Maya
I am a passionate language teacher with a degree in French and Spanish from the University of Oxford. Studying languages at university gave me not only a deep understanding of French and Spanish, but also a genuine appreciation for the cultures, literature, and people behind the languages.
During my Year Abroad, I taught English in both Paris and Madrid, an experience that confirmed my ambition to pursue a career in language education. Working with students from different backgrounds showed me how rewarding it is to help others grow in confidence and achieve their goals.
I am an enthusiastic, approachable, and encouraging tutor who genuinely enjoys helping students discover that languages can be both accessible and enjoyable. I know that many people have had uninspiring experiences learning languages at school, particularly in the UK, and I love helping students change that perception. Seeing someone become more confident and begin to enjoy communicating in another language is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

I am an enthusiastic and confident tutor, with a real passion for French and Spanish. I bring this enthusiasm to my lessons, while also ensuring that we go through things clearly and rigorously, at whatever speed my student requires. I have tutored GCSE and A Level French and Spanish for two years, so have lots of experience with that specific style of exam, but am also available to tutor younger secondary school pupils, or any adults wanting to get to grips with French and Spanish, either for work or for pleasure!
