About Barbara

Hi there! I’m a Luxembourgish student currently studying Psychology and Sociology in the UK. I’ve been through school myself, so I know how frustrating it can be when something just won’t click. That’s exactly why I love teaching: helping people understand the world around them, and seeing the moment it finally makes sense.
Growing up in Luxembourg, I’ve been surrounded by languages my whole life, which has given me a real feel for how languages work and how to learn them. there ans overview for you :)
Luxembourgish: native speaker
German: near-native
French: fluent
English: fluent
Latin: 4 years of study in secondary school
Portuguese, Italian and Spanish: basic knowledge

I’m 18 and the oldest of four siblings, so explaining things patiently is something I’ve done for years. In my free time, I voluntarily wrote my own school-style practice tests for my younger sisters so they could prepare before real exams. I know how much it helps to practise in a format that feels like the real thing.
At my previous school, I was also part of a “Students Helping Students” group. There, I helped classmates with their homework and explained lesson material they hadn’t understood or needed clarified. Because I was a student too, I learned how to break things down in a way that’s clear, relatable and not intimidating.

In general I’m patient and never make you feel bad for asking questions, I explain topics in simple, everyday language and
I can create practice questions and mini-tests to help you prepare for exams.

Outside of tutoring, I love dancing, playing the piano, and I have around six years of experience training horses. These have taught me discipline, creativity and patience, and I bring all three into my lessons.

Whether you need help catching up, understanding a tricky topic or feeling more confident before an exam, I’d love to help.

I will tailor my lessons to your needs, goals and pace, because every student learns differently. All age groups are welcome, from preschoolers to adults. A typical lesson lasts 50 minutes.
I have been teaching Luxembourgish for 4 to 5 years, so I know how to explain a language clearly, whether you’re a complete beginner or want to improve what you already know. For about 3 years, I also volunteered in camps, where I worked with children and teenagers in lively, hands-on settings. This taught me how to keep young learners motivated, engaged and having fun. At my previous school, I was also part of a “Students Helping Students” group, where I helped other students with their homework and explained lesson material they hadn’t understood or needed clarified. Being a student myself taught me to explain things.

So far, I have plenty of experience teaching children and teenagers aged 3 to 18, from playful first steps with a new language to exam preparation for older students. That said, I’m open to everyone, and adult learners are more than welcome.
