About Francesca
I have a First Class degree in English literature at King's College London and an MSc in Media and Communications at the LSE. I'm extremely passionate about my subject and I think it has really helped me develop critical and analytical skills that are helpful in the academic world and in everyday life. I love theatre, I'm a member of the theatre society at King's and I have taken part in its production of 'Murder on the Nile' this year. Knowing how to read texts means knowing how to read social, political and cultural phenomena and that is why, in my opinion, everyone should be given the instruments to achieve such an understanding of the world.

I have 3+ years of experience (300+ lessons) tutoring English on all levels. To prepare myself for the lesson I will first familiarize myself, in case I'm not already familiar, with the text and author that I will be discussing with the student. When it comes to teaching my subjects -- or literature in general -- I am convinced that helping the students develop their own opinion, their own understanding of the texts, is essential. The best way to achieve this is by continuously ask questions to stimulate the students and guide them in their thinking process, thus assisting them in their textual analysis while also allowing them to develop their own interpretative skills. It is also important to proceed from the smallest details in the text to the bigger questions it asks and then contextualize it in its historical and cultural period.
