About Sophia
Hi, I'm Sophia!
Teaching has always been more than a job to me, it's something I'm genuinely passionate about. I love helping children discover that they are capable learners and watching their confidence grow as they achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
I completed a Bachelor of Primary Education and a Bachelor of Special Education, and I currently work full-time as an intervention teacher in a private (P-12) school. Every day, I support students with a range of learning needs in literacy and numeracy, using evidence-based strategies to help them make meaningful progress.
One of the things I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to tailor every lesson to the individual child. No two students learn the same way, so I take the time to understand their strengths, identify any learning gaps, and adapt my teaching to suit their needs. My goal is to create a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their progress.
I believe learning should be engaging, positive, and achievable. Whether a student needs extra support, wants to build confidence, or is looking for additional challenge, I aim to make every session enjoyable while helping them develop skills that will benefit them long after our lessons together.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy creating educational resources, keeping up to date with the latest research in education, and continually developing my own practice so I can provide the best possible support for every student I work with.

Hello! I'm a qualified primary and special education teacher with a Bachelor of Primary Education and a Bachelor of Special Education. I currently work full-time as an intervention teacher in a private (P-12) school, supporting primary students who require additional assistance in literacy and numeracy.
Every day, I teach evidence-based intervention programs, including structured literacy and mathematics support, helping students build confidence while making meaningful progress in their learning. I have experience working with students across a wide range of abilities, including those who are performing below year level, require extension, or have diverse learning needs such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia and learning difficulties.
My tutoring sessions are personalized to each student's goals and learning style. I believe every child can succeed when they are taught in a way that makes sense to them. I create engaging, supportive lessons that develop confidence alongside academic skills, ensuring students leave each session feeling successful.
I can provide support in:
* Primary Mathematics (Prep–Year 6)
* Reading and comprehension
* Phonics and structured literacy
* Spelling and writing
* Homework support
* NAPLAN preparation
* Learning intervention for students requiring additional support
* Students with diverse learning needs
Parents can expect regular communication about their child's progress, targeted lessons based on individual needs, and practical strategies that can also be used at home.
Session lengths are tailored to each student's individual learning needs and goals. I also recognize that students learn best when they are engaged and not mentally fatigued after a full day at school. For this reason, most tutoring sessions range from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, with longer sessions including a short break to help students remain focused, motivated, and able to retain new learning.

I honestly cannot recommend Sophia highly enough. When I first reached out to her, I was a second-year pre-service teacher who had failed the LANTITE and was feeling completely overwhelmed. My confidence was at an all-time low, and I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to pass the exam.

Instead of feeling paralysed by a 2,000-word assignment, I now have a clear plan for tackling each section, which has made university so much less overwhelming.
