About Matt
I am an experienced Business and Economics educator with over 18 years of teaching experience, including Head of Department at an independent school.
My work has consistently focused on preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, developing a detailed understanding of how high-quality responses are constructed, assessed and rewarded.
I established Crest Academic to provide a more focused approach to tuition — one that moves beyond content coverage and places greater emphasis on how students apply their knowledge in exam conditions.
In my experience, many capable students fall short not through lack of understanding, but through limitations in structure, clarity and evaluation. Supporting students in overcoming these barriers, and seeing that translate into stronger performance, is what underpins my work.

Lessons are delivered with a clear focus on how students are assessed, not simply what they are taught.
In Business and Economics, strong outcomes depend on the ability to apply knowledge with clarity, structure and precision under exam conditions. Many students possess the required understanding, but lack the discipline and technique needed to express it effectively in higher-mark questions.
Sessions are therefore structured around developing exam performance — refining written responses, strengthening analysis and evaluation, and building confidence in approaching extended answers.
Each programme is tailored to the individual, with a consistent weekly approach designed to embed these skills over time. This allows students to make measurable, sustained progress, rather than relying on short-term revision or last-minute preparation.
